My story
My name is Sandrine de Goede and I am a global citizen who was born and raised in the Netherlands and who has lived multiple years in foreign countries. I am “the product” of a Dutch father and a Romanian mother who fled her country for political reasons in her early twenties. She got a decent job in the Netherlands after many years, but I have always felt that she could have achieved so much more. It was a hard and frustrating journey for her as a non-Dutch person to find a job that matched her skills, work experience and ambitions.
This is something that I still see happening today, 50 years down the road. Especially with persons traveling with someone who was offered a job in the Netherlands. Very often, they put their own career on hold. Because they want to, or because they feel they have to.
That has to change. And it can.
For all highly skilled internationals wanting to work in the Netherlands.
About Open Dutch Doors
I believe that everyone should be able to have the career they want. To be empowered and autonomous. That’s why I have created Open Dutch Doors; a career and settling in services company that helps highly educated internationals find interesting work in the Netherlands and that connects them to Dutch employers that are seeking to find and keep talented employees.
Open Dutch Doors is built on my own international work experience and my 20 years of working in various roles and industries in the Netherlands. I understand how difficult it can be for non-natives of a country to find work, what intercultural aspects are important to consider when pursuing a job abroad and I use this knowledge to help internationals navigate the Dutch labor market. At the same time, I know what is important for employers in the Netherlands; what their industry’s and organization’s main challenges are and how these translate into human capital requirements.
